The ITIL® Strategy (Version 5) course provides practical guidance on developing, implementing and continuously refining strategies that align technology investments with business objectives. It equips professionals with the knowledge and confidence to make strategic decisions that deliver measurable value while navigating today’s volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) environments.
Building on the ITIL framework, this course introduces a structured approach to strategy management, enabling organisations to align vision, purpose and values with digital transformation initiatives. Participants will learn how to integrate business and IT strategies, ensuring that products and services contribute directly to organisational success and long-term sustainability.
The course explores the ITIL Strategy Management Model, covering both strategy development and strategy implementation cycles. It also addresses how organisations can build critical strategic capabilities such as leadership, innovation, communication and governance, while incorporating modern approaches including Agile, DevOps and AI-enabled decision-making.

Candidates who attend the course will be eligible to sit the ITIL® Strategy (Version 5) certification examination.
Prerequisite:
- Candidates must hold either the ITIL® 4 Foundation certification or the ITIL® (Version 5) Foundation certification before taking the ITIL® Strategy (Version 5) examination.
About the examination:
- Exam duration: 90 minutes
- Exam format: 40 questions, multiple-choice, open book
- Question types: Standard MCQs, list-based and scenario-based questions
- Delivery: Online, web-proctored
Successful participants will be awarded the ITIL® Strategy (Version 5) certification
